Painting Booth (2020)

As part of my scroll saw work and resin printing, I wanted to learn how to paint and air brush. I lack many artistic skills, but I figured I could accomplish some basic capabilities.

The booth is a simple box with an air filter in the back and a standard air duct in the back. For now, I have it attached to my dust collector. I will eventually buy a custom duct fan and reroute the existing dust collection, ductwork to go towards the back door and design some type of movable construct so I can open the door and vent the fumes outside.

For paint, the fumes aren’t a concern. But, I also spray Bondo spot putty liquified with acetone as a 3D printing fill. For very dynamic surfaces, it does a pretty good job of filling in the gaps and drying quickly. However, the fume build up in the garage is bad. I’m properly masked, but it mostly means I can’t work out there until the air is flushed unless I want to stay masked.

Originally the unit had wheels. I found I wasn’t moving it, so removed them at a later stage.
