In my last lathe class we made some tops from maple. I struggle a bit while in the class and wasn’t happy with any of my results. Getting tired and frustrated towards the end, didn’t help. But, the next day I grabbed some old 2×4 wood and popped out a small top and finished it. Not perfect, but not bad.
For practice, I think I’m going to start cutting some small Christmas ornaments out of scrap wood.
Next week in our final class, we will make a bowl. That ought to be interesting.
