It has been several months since an update, but that has been because I’m working on several projects in parallel and none of them seemed to be at a suitable milestone point to post an update.
In January, Tracy and I started a partial remodel of the master bathroom. We replaced the floors, counter top and a variety of fixtures. Tracy still needs to pick up some mirrors, but I opted to do something custom/self made for the medicine cabinets.
This is my first time doing a panel like this. I’ve made doors before for other projects, but this was the first time doing a scroll saw panel and painting. I don’t have an eye for painting, but I can take a coloring book approach and mush some colors around to feel like it might have been intentional.
I need to start the other door, and the inside still needs to be built out. For the insides, I’m going to use a vinyl paper for the surface and put in some fixed shelves. Tracy wants me to add a knob on the door.
This project stalled me for a bit. Working with solid wood has extra challenges. Both my jointer and planer were completely out of tune. I spent a day or two just trying to figure out how to get them not to destroy wood.
Quick updates on some parallel projects
These will have posts as soon as they get to some suitable milestone
- The small speakers have been installed in the patio, but I need to finish wiring them up and writing the automation.
- I bought a large speaker and a different amplifier board for proper music. But, I haven’t tried to use or test them.
- I’m building a carbon filter system for the area near Spooky’s kitty litter. It is in my den and there can be smells. I’ve tested a refillable carbon filter and it seems to do a good job. I’m going to build a box for it and add a furnace filter to the front.
