In 2020, I replaced some nice raised panel wood doors, that had gotten fairly beat up over the decade of being weathered, with metal doors. At the same time, I installed proper storage spaces behind the doors. Prior to this, the doors just dropped into the hollow space inside the island, which wasn’t very practical.
The doors are welded, square metal tubes. The panels are some plastic sheets and some metal mesh. They aren’t properly water proof, but the patio cover and door frames block most of the water. I also lined the box ceilings with LED lights strips. So the doors glow nicely at night.
