A picture from midway through the project. I finished the seating, got the steering done… I also had the chain in place and…mostly drivable.
However, it had so many things wrong with it that I abandoned the effort:
- Heavy and a lot of work to petal
- I didn’t like the steering at all
- And, the most important reason, my wife was too scared to use it. Without it being something she would consider doing with me, it was pointless.
On the wife factor, since then we have tried a regular tandem bike, with large training wheel like attachments. Again, too scary. At this point, I’ve given up most options for us to bike together.
As for myself, I suspect there may be a bike in my future, but that is still TBD.
